Rob Reed
Robhas been a career public servant working for 40 years in federal and state governments. Rob has served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in Washington D.C. (1982-1987) and more recently in the (Eastern District of Pennsylvania (EDPA) (1989-2017). As a federal prosecutor, Rob investigated, prosecuted, and supervised a wide range of cases from Violent Crime, gang violence, and Civil Rights to white collar crime and corruption.

Joel Friesz has served as Executive Director of National Association of Community and Restorative Justice (NACRJ) since January 2022. Prior to this, Joel oversaw a statewide Restorative Justice program for 13 years at a non-profit agency in North Dakota. During those years, Joel and his team worked extensively with the juvenile justice system and K-12 schools across North Dakota and region.

John Hanlon is the owner of Hanlon Law Office LLC in Springfield, which seeks to work on cases that present significant issues of justice, including cases of actual innocence. He is the former (now retired) Executive Director of the Illinois Innocence Project at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). In that role, he oversaw the growth of IIP, which has to date played a substantial role in the exoneration and release of 23 innocent individuals; has worked to educate citizens about wrongful convictions; and has worked successfully to reform Illinois laws toward preventing wrongful convictions. John has taught Wrongful Convictions courses at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign, and to undergraduates at the campus in Springfield.
